Bringing your Pets to Panama.

If you have a pet and you are planning to come with them to Panama. You will need to obtain a license. To start you will need to comply with the following requisites:

  1. You need to fill in a form by  Livestock Quarantine on which you need to indicate, among others the following:
    1. Your name and ID number.
    2. The specie, breed, age, gender and id number of your pet.
    3. The name of the person responsible in Panama in case it exists.
    4. The country of origin of your pet.
    5. The approximate date of arrival of your pet.
    6. The address where the pet will be staying in Panama.
  2. You need to present the health certificate of your pet issued by a certified veterinary, translated into Spanish and authenticated. The authentication can be done by the Panamanian Consulate or the office of the local government that issues the Apostille.
  3. The zoo-sanitary certificate translated into Spanish and duly authenticated. This certificate must be obtained at the place of origin of your pet and it authorizes the exportation. This document is usually issued by the local government.

 

The translations into Spanish shall be done by a Panamanian Public translator.

The pet, once in Panama shall stay at quarantine; it can be domiciliary or at the airport.  To keep a pet at domiciliary quarantine involves a higher expense.
